Abbreviation: APE/RA 
Learning outcomes: To encourage participants to develop their oral English skills and confidence in using English, in particular for nutritional purposes.
Content: Discussions on relevant academic and professional topics, class and home exercises on pronunciation and vocabulary, role-play exercises e.g. discussions with clients, and writing exercises.
Learning Material: Materials supplied by the lecturer.

Conduct: Participation in Teaching. Details: Assessment is based on active participation in the whole programme, continuous oral assessment; and completion of writing and presentation exercises.

Prerequisites: Students must already be able to discuss general topics freely in English (B1 level in the Common European Framework of Reference). If in doubt, they should first improve their oral skills on other courses e.g. through the Open University.
